I am a BACP registered counsellor. My experience covers a broad range of needs – from dealing with every day anxiety issues to working intensively with trauma.
I offer you a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space from where to explore your issues and to work on empowering yourself to make positive change.
To achieve the best outcomes, I work in 3 main ways:
1. Self-awareness - understanding your thought processes and behaviour patterns to facilitate change
2. Body awareness - how your body is affected by your mind and how to improve physical health
3. Psychoeducation - empowering you to regulate your own emotions and nervous system responses
I take an integrative approach. This means I combine different modes of counselling to provide sessions that are specifically tailored to your needs.
My approach is based around person-centred counselling which centres on the belief that you have an innate pull towards reaching your full potential as a human being, but life events can acted as barriers to this.
I also use a psychodynamic approach which explores how early memories and life experiences impact our current situations and the person you’ve become.
Carl Rogers, the founder of person-centred counselling, believed that most people never really had the experience of being heard, or feeling valued. He also argued that in order to be the best we can be, we needed to move from getting our validation from what others think of us, to truly believing in ourselves and learning to live in the moment.
This style of therapy aims to address the foundation and formation of what makes a person what they have become. By evaluating patterns people develop over time, it seeks to reduce symptoms and improve people’s lives.
I love to empower my clients by increasing understanding of how to regulate emotions and nervous system responses. It's great to know that we can do something physiologically to make a positive difference to coping with our emotions.
I believe strongly in empowering my clients by increasing understanding of how to regulate emotions and nervous system responses. It's crucial to know that we can do something physiological to make a significant difference to coping with our emotions.
